Boelhouer Game Farm is situated in the Little Karoo, approx 2 hours outside Cape Town on the N1. The estate measures approximately 7500 hectar and lies within a 5 minute drive from the historic town of Matjiesfontien. Boelhouer Game Farm is one of the richest sources of water in the Karoo. It has naturally 100 % pure still water. For this reason the water rights on the farm was sold to the railway many years ago, today the farm still supplies the town of Matjiesfontein with water. The Boer War was also fought on the farm and you may still find empty bullet casings. Prisoners of war were taken to the prison at Matjiesfontein, now the museum beneath the railway.
For hunting or just to relax the Boelhouer Game Farm has 2 chalets (Kudu and Springbok) at the foot of the mountain which sleeps 2-4 guests and “Kwagga House” caters for larger parties between 4-9 guests. Each unit is equipped with built in braai/ fireplaces for those fresh winter nights or great summer braai’s.
